Halo-Halo

Ang init. Gusto ko tuloy mag halo-halo. Pero this post is not totally about the weather. Haayy! Saying goodbye to people who have been with you for a couple of years already would be a lonesome thing. Mag-iiba na naman ang aura ng office. Wala ng big-mouthed stupefiers and soft-voiced doll. Sooner or later, aalis na 'tong dalawang 'to, and will face the real world already. Maghahanap ng trabaho, magkakapera, magkakapamilya, magkaka-apo...

Tsk. Everyone has their time to graduate, and next year, batch naman namin ang mag-mamarch. Pero sa oras na 'to, moment muna nila. To these two people who have been close to my heart, kuya Kenneth Buenaflor Pael (our former Editor-in-Chief) and Ate Rina Marie Rubia (our former News Editor), congratulations. After the ceremony, kainan sa bahay ng EIC namin. hahaha.

Another thing. Summer is getting super fast, and kahit busy na kaming officers for the preparation of our youth camp, 'di ko pa rin maiwasang mag-emote. hahah. (OA) Sasakay na si crushie crush ko sa barko for his apprenticeship. Di na kami magkikita. Wala na akong inspiration for a super hectic schedule next semester. haha. But I know babantayan s'ya ni Lord sa barko. Take care do'n crushie crush, and pasalubong ko pag-uwi mo, wag mong kalimutan. lalalalala. ^_^

waaaah! Di talaga ako confident sa picture na 'to. Urgh! Secret na muna mukha n'ya. Baka pati kayo ma crush sa kanya. Baka pati kayo hihingi ng pasalubong mula sa kanya. hahahaha. ^_^

Summer classes, here I come. I need money pang pa-enroll. But I know my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory. ♥

Random Thoughts Part 21

Friday na. Super bilis na talaga ng oras ngayon. Two more Final examinations and totally goodbye to the second semester of the school year 2011-2012.

Postponed AGAIN! Studying is no joke. Expecting for an examination for a certain day is not a funny business. But there is no funnier thought than knowing that your teacher has once again postponed the examination for no apparent reason. Urgh! The tension keeps on haunting me and my classmates. But we have to give in, follow her scheduled time, and take the test the moment she's ready. Tsk.

Goosebumps. So there we were, sitting outside the Mini-Theater, and talking about random topics. Then, we ended talking about sigbins, white ladies, cas-cas, bal-bal, and the like. (These are ghost characters common here in the Philippines) The best was narrated by one of our close friends, and she was so serious about it. Later, we freaked out with it's ending and then laughed like idiots until we had watery eyes.

Here's the story:

The night was deep. While riding on a motorcycle, the woman told her husband that she felt like someone was following them. She looked back and realized that it was a white lady, and no matter how fast her husband has squashed the throttle, the white lady seemed not to cease follow them.
Wife: (with a shrieking voice) Unsaon man nato ni? What are we to do now?
Husband: (shaking) In Jesus' name! In Jesus' name! Nawala na? Is she gone?
Wife: Ginoo ko! Naa ra gihapon. Oh my God! It's still following us.
Husband: Mag-ampo tah. Let's pray.
Wife: Hail Mary, full of grace...
Husband: Hail Mary, full of grace...
White Lady: (pointed her head and twirled her fingers in the air) Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with you... *then laughed.

Implication: 'Di na tatalab sa mga multo ngayon ang mga prayers na yan. ^()^ hahaha.

Backtracks. As I came in the office, a Youtube.com video was playing. There, I found out that the EIC has slashed the policy on "No opening of social networking sites and playing of videos during office hours." With a bright idea in mind, I sat beside one of my colleagues and watched with her. From video reviews on The Voice and American Idol, we resorted to song hits by Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion. 'Twas a fun time to trance for some time that we have voices as beautiful as theirs. haha.

Random Thoughts Part 20

Wow! I cannot imagine how I have become so silent in the blogosphere for so many days now. As much as I wanted to open blogger and make sensible posts for everyone, I still don't have enough of the time stretch to do it. I hate to say this, but the past few days have been busy -- school stuffs, Finals Week, and the like. ^_^

So yes, I am here again to write randomness. Nothing else. And it's gonna be set in Taglish mode.

Nagkita na si Katerina at si Daniel. Oo, yes. Sa mga fan ng teleserye na 'to, apir. I have never been a good fan of Filipino teleseryes before 'coz I really hate the imitations of the story plot from foreign movies I have already watched. I really don't like stories with predictable plots and endings. I don't like teleseryes wherein the protagonist looks so martyr, he does not know how to fight back. I hate that. But since this teleserye in ABS-CBN, Walang Hanggan, serves a dish with a little more spice than the usual, the whole family freezes in front of the television to watch. Even my father, the number one hater of teleseryes, never miss one night without Walang Hanggan. Awesome!

And just last night, the moment for both Katerina and Daniel, the lovers separated by fate, has finally come. After two years apart, they have seen each other again, but this time, leads the former to go hysterical at the sight of the latter. Revenge is coming at a full throttle. Marami ng nangyari sa mga buhay nila with that two years. Ayyyy! Kung 'di n'yo pa napapanood ang seryeng ito, nood nah. hahaha.

Look what's on Google today. Akira Yoshizawa. Known as a grandmaster of origami. And Google is celebrating his 101st birthday TODAY. As I surfed the net for more information about this man and his works, I have seen how prolific he is with his works and how passionate he is with his skill to gear up origami into the higher level.

Wet-folding is the new word for the day. This is a technique that uses water to dampen the the paper so that it can be folded or molded easily. And this was a technique by Mr. Yoshizawa himself.

If he would still be alive today, then he would know of this greeting of mine. Or maybe not! ^_^ Happy birthday to the origami genius.

Tonight is the night. Well, I have anticipated for this night. It's the election for the new editorial board of our publication, and I am quite neutral about it. Whatever happens tonight, God knows. The future of The NORSUnian will depend on the new set of editors to be conferred tonight.

Hopefully, this publication of ours will have a decent future under the new administration and the new members.

This is the staff for the present school year. This photo will soon be different. New faces will emerge, some will be gone, and some will stay. But one thing is for sure. The people in this photo will always be a part of the history of The NORSUnian.

I Ended February with a Big Smile

*February 29, 2012*

My first and last. Hosting was never my thing, for I have a soft, forced voice. But mind you, for the first time in my life, I became one of the hosts in a grand event in our university -- The Ringhop Ceremony and Officers' Ball of the College of Maritime Education. I did not really know how I was convinced but with a TF at stake, I agreed with less hesitation. (hehe)

So there I was, standing with my partner behind a camouflage-painted pulpit and smiling my concealed nervousness away. I had to say the first line, yet my throat was already as dry as the Sahara Desert. So I ended up repeating the last two words of my introduction.  *jitters all over*

Anyway, as the program progressed, my pressure on the environment turned down a notch and I felt more comfortable even with a giant blinding light focused on our faces. Talking just seemed to be casual. Then I thought, hosting is not that hard. But I guess, as much as I wanted it to be my first, I suppose that would also be my last. I don't know. Maybe soon someone would hear me talk and would say, "You have a nice voice. Can you be our host?" (haha. kapal teh!)

That one magical moment (with my crushie crush). I started to read my script as the swordsmen stood still on the aisle. "The ringhop ceremony is a ritual best known for the wearing of ring, performed by couples in one unforgettable moment...", and Cherry later called a singer to sing their batch song. It was a familiar one, but I forgot the title as fast as I forgot about the next thing to say.

Set in cross process, these are the officers conferred by
  the university president.  he's there.
With nothing in mind but to finish the whole hosting thing early, I arranged the cards on the surface of the pulpit while waiting for Jessa, the singer, to end. And with that moment, that unexpected moment, he walked towards our direction and grabbed my microphone. But before he could say anything, he looked at me, smiled, and handed me a golden ring with his name embossed on it. A day before that night, he texted me, and asked for a good favor. "Can you wear me my ring?"

"Where's your partner?" I replied.

"I have no partner. Can you?"

Well, so there he was, standing beside me, telling all men to rise. He stood closer as he whispered something into my ear, and we were just so close that I had jitters again (he smelled so good, too). I got the mic and said, "Ladies, you can now wear the ring to your men, to your partners."

I set the microphone aside, and later faced him. I got his hand, (OMG), and fireworks started getting out of my belly (hahaha...Katy Perry style). I held it softly, attached the ring, and smiled for the nth time. He did the same, and silently gestured one happy thought.

I tried to calm down as he walked away, but now, that smile we exchanged with the ring was just eternal. Hay crush talaga!

After the event, we took pictures of us together (kaya ito lang ang mga pictures na mai-po-post ko 'coz the rest are with him) and bid simple goodbyes. (parang walang nangyari)

Why of course, that was my best leap year moment with a crushie crush. Indeed, happiness comes to those who patiently wait...and those best moments are yet the unexpected ones. <3
